Angling guide Pat McLoughlin has provided us with a general report about the fishing on the Kells Blackwater over the last few days of the season.

Pat reports that anglers struggled with low water conditions and very spooky trout, but with a long leader and stealth it was possible to have a reasonable days fishing. On Sunday 22nd my son Gerard and I had a few nice fish to dries and nymph topped off with with a 20 in trout of a little over 3.25lb. The previous week we had over 40 trout each with a fair amount of fish over 1lb, all on dries. We also spent an evening on Lough Bane and Gerard managed a nice rainbow of 4.25lb.

Except for Sheelin, it is time to put the fly rods away and break out the pike gear for the winter.
