Shaun Hegarty reports that the weather, as it was for the most of 2012, was the dominating feature of the last week of the year at the Curragh Springs Fishery. Gareth Jepson from Sallins landed the last fish of 2012 a fine Curragh Springs Rainbow.

The New Year started well at Curragh Springs with settled conditions and gin clear water. The mild weather led to the fish being well spread out around the entire lake with reports of good catches in all areas, various methods working well.

The rise in water temperatures has helped with fish taking a wide variety of Lures, Nymphs, Buzzers and to every-ones surprise a lot of fish caught on small Dry Fly.

Family day out for the Dunne family from Clane saw Pat Dunne claim best catch of the day finishing well into double figures with sons Kevin and Shane trailing well behind, obviously Pat hasn’t taught them everything he knows yet and is keeping a few technique’s secret for himself.

Ray Harris from Dublin also had a good day out.
