Gioni Teticu  was back on the Blessington Lakes towards the end of September. The weather was nice and warm, his expectations were high and he fully expected a very productive session. Gioni found the fishing was very good due warm, overcast weather. He was fishing with a new pole, Shimano Exage CX 13m, using various baits, including cooked prawn for perch and worms/maggots/casters for big roach.

Gioni’s choosen groundbait mix was Sensas Magic Black and Sensas Damp Leam laced with casters/dead maggots/chopped worms. Sensas Bloodworm Liquid Additive was added in the mix at the end and he is sure that additives, powder or liquid, will give anglers an edge on hard, difficult venues.

The first bite came almost instantly. A nice perch caught on prawn/maggot cocktail and then a string of nice perch followed. Gioni believes that these fish are attracted by the flavour or scent of the prawns and that this bait will select a biggest fish of the shoal. After 20 minutes or so the  shoal of perch moved away,  perhaps spooked by big trout or pike.

Gioni decided to rebait the swim with two balls of groundbait and fish for roach with maggot/caster on hook. After 5 hours of fishing he ended up with 30 lbs of nice roach and few perch. The fishing is closed for the month of October but in November, if the weather is good he will be fishing again for perch hoping for big one.
