SLEATOR CUP & TYRRELL/McKEEVER TROPHY

Last Sunday Lough Ennell Trout Angling Association hosted the Christy Sleator Perpetual Cup in very calm and bright conditions. As it was the last official club competition also up for grabs was the Tyrrell/McKeever Trophy for Angler of the year. Ennell proved a tough nut to crack last Sunday and at the 7pm weigh-in at Whitebridge Bay 4 fish were presented. The lake was alive with trout pitching all over the place, but would not look at our beautiful presented flies.

John Tyrrell competition captain of L.E.T.P.A. thanked all who supported the 2014 competitions, and Jack Sleator and the Sleator family for sponsoring last Sundays prizes. Jack was on hand for the presentations along with daughter Jade, and son J.P. That evening the angler of the year was announced, and this year’s winner was Vincent Murphy of Tubberdaly near Rhode in Co.Offaly. Unfortunally Vincent was not present for the presentation, and his angling pal Christy Dunne accepted the Tyrrell/McKeever Trophy from John and Alan Tyrrell sons of the late Mickie Tyrrell.
