Angling Information Officer John Flynn IFI reports from the River Barrow in Co. Carlow:

Earlier in week quite a good number of Twaite shad were reported caught. A family group from Belfast were delighted when one of their young anglers caught a specimen shad early on Saturday morning.

Also at the weekend we had a Polish anglers who now live in Arklow visit St. Mullins and he is pictured here with a nice hybrid.

On the coarse fish angling,  some nice quality bream and hybrids are being caught and observed at St. Mullins.  It is expected that these fish are in to spawn in the area and when finished will revert back to normal holding areas further downstream.

Some pitching salmon observed in area on Saturday but anglers please remember this is a catch and release river.
