Skipper Mark Gannon from Courtmacsherry reports:

The Lady Patricia skippered by Jim O Donnell ventured out for the sharks yesterday, still a big sea running but conditions much improved, a good slick was started but by 3 pm with no run the anglers decided to try the bass fishing again in the Estuary. The bait tank was loaded up with joeys and they started fishing with a slack stream.
6 fish were landed in total, the heaviest a fish of 75 cms.

The results were no surprise as the bass fishing in the estuary has been excellent, but live bait seems to be the best method as the water is very cloudy. We landed fish to 9lbs approx on both Monday and Tuesday and on Thursday had fish to 6 lbs.

Its a full week since our last shark trip (23/08), which was the last time the weather was suitable for fishing offshore. That day we landed 3 blues to 60 lbs and had some garfish just under the Specimen weight. The rest of the week we combined a mixture of fishing for pollack on the inshore reefs and anchored up for Thornbacks.
