Well done to Wexford guide Sid Jones of Fishing Ireland who organised a boat trip on Sunday Apr 27 with the proceeds going in aid of Cancer research around the Hook in Wexford.  He tells us how the day went:

My latest trip was a bit special as it was in aid of cancer research, it was arranged to leave from Youghal but changed to Duncannon due to recent bad weather hampering us.
For this trip I acquired the services of Whale/Dolphin watching and angling expert Martin Colfer and his spacious twin engine and twin hulled catamaran the Rebecca C with excellent facilities including wheelchair access, superb safety features and life jackets worn at all times.

Sid Jones - April 27th 5After Martin gave us an introduction we set off and quickly arrived on one of many marks with ease due to the power of this boat. Some of the species caught were Cod, Pollock, Coalie and Whiting The first fish of the day was caught by first time angler Tracey Murphy and the largest fish of the day was claimed by the youngest angler Amy Lynch who has fished with me now for some time now and has landed the biggest fish on a couple of occasions.

Sid Jones - April 27th 611 of us fished in total with “comfort” and a great day was had by one and all with even a bit of fancy dress thrown in to add a bit of colour. Thank you to Martin for providing a great service and his donation, a true gent… I’m looking forward to getting down to Youghal very soon and fishing with him again …
