Lindsey Clarke reports on the salmon fishing at Lough Mevlin from 21 – 27 April…
This week brought better weather with rising air temperatures and some light conditions though the wind was strong on occasions. Still, it really felt like spring.
The trout fishing was variable and I think this was due in great part to varying air pressures with the barometer rising and falling constantly. There were some reports of fair trout fishing. 4 rods in 2 boats on Friday recorded 8 Gillaroo caught weighing around ¾ to 1lb and 2 sonaghan with 3 good fished missed/lost.
