The Irish Ladies Flyfishing Association fished their 4th and final trial of 2014 on Sunday 5th October at Eskragh Lough Fishery, Co Tyrone. The hopefuls fished from 11 am to 6.00 pm at what is regarded as a fantastic rainbow fishery with some really huge fish. The competition was Catch and Release and all flies had to be on barbless or debarbed hooks.
It turned out to be great day out and with the awful weather conditions experienced in much of the country avoiding the North. By the end of the day the 12 anglers caught 37 fish between them with many more “getting off the hook”.

Julie Gerry was the top angler with 9 fish for 348 points.
ILFA thanked the Dundalk Anglers for giving up their day to boat for them, sort out tangles and ensure theyhad a really enjoyable day – all the ladies had to do was catch fish! PRO Hazel said it was great to see so many anglers out and to welcome 3 new members – Liz, Orlaigh and Deirdre. The new members distinguished their first day with ILFA by all catching fish – congratulations to them and all who took part.

Go Fishing…
The Irish Ladies Flyfishing Association organise fishing and social events throughout the year all over the country. Each year the Association helps to fund a team to compete in the Ladies International, against teams from England, Scotland and Wales. A series of four trials are used to select the team to represent Ireland at the Ladies International Flyfishing Championship. ILFA also aim to hold a series of ‘open days’ for the complete beginner and ‘training days’ for those wishing to improve their skills.
