Angling guide Eamonn Conway reports that he was out and about on the River Fane Yesterday. Eamonn says that the river is low at the minute for salmon but the trout fishing is very good. According to Eamonn, dry fly fishing is the way to go with fine tippet and accurate casts. Today a small black klinkhammer on a size 16 hook worked very well for Eamonn. He also tried a bit of nymphing with to very good effect, pulling some of the stubborn trout from the runs that would not come to the dry fly. Pheasant tails were the nymphs of choice.
