Lindsey Clarke reports from LOUGH MELVIN – Monday 22nd to Tuesday 30th September 2014.
Lough Melvin remained low due to a lack of rainfall. Fishing was hard work and the sonaghan seemed to be deep down. The bright weather did not suit fishing and probably resulted in Daphnia and other plankton remaining deep down in the water column with the result that the sonaghan also remained deep. A group of Swiss anglers fishing out of Lareen had some good fishing however. Trolling Rapala’s and similar lures, they recorded trout and Ferox to 5½lb and also some fine Perch.
