Brendan Collins is the 2015 Waterways Ireland Open Champion after a fine display of dace fishing on the River Barrow at St.Mullins, Co. Carlow.
During the competition held on Sunday 12th July the bream appeared to have moved out of the stretch so it was dace all the way for most anglers with only a few roach, perch, rudd, skimmers & hybrids showing. Brendan drew a peg downstream of the wires and caught most fish on the float mid river with defending champion, second placed Bob Hulme running him very close fishing similarly form a peg on the stands. Third placed Attila Paldeak got the better of a peg to peg battle with Danny Murphy at the downstream end of the stretch, both anglers fishing identically 8m to hand with Atilla edging it at the scales.
Waterford & District Coarse Angling Club would like to thank everyone who took part and the sponsors and they look forward to a bigger event in 2016.
