On the longest day of the year, Portobello AC tried to outwit the weather and fishing gods by having a canal match at Longwood between 4.30 and 9.30pm. But the tactic didn’t really work and bites and fish were hard to come by. Even as the daylight turned to dusk the fishing remained tough.
Colm O’Gaora chose to fish black groundbait as opposed to Trevor’s bright red choice and the dark side won out on the day – with 22 fish on pinkie and chopped worm for 1.200kg.
- 1. Colm O’Gaora 1.200kg
- 2. Sean Campbell 0.510kg
- 3. Chris Moore 0.360kg and Eoin Phelan 0.360kg
- 5. Shay Phelan 0.250kg
- 6. Trevor Campbell 0.110kg
- 7. Christy Moore 0.020kg
