Wexford guide Sid Jones of Fishing Ireland came out of hibernation and joined Jack Keating of Dungarvan Charter Boats for a fishing trip. Sid tells us:
Saturday the 21st brought me down to Dungarvan for a day out on the water with Jack and Maurice aboard Dungarvan charter boat the Avoca. Sun, sea, fish and great craic were had by all aboard, although the extra lunar activity with the solar eclipse created higher tides and a much quicker drift than normal. Nonetheless we battled on and hoped for the best for the first tripod the season and we did quite well in the end with a healthy haul of Coalies landed with Anthony Byrne hauling 3 full strings along with many others.
Among the catches were ballan wrasse, cuckoo wrasse, whiting, ling, pollock, doggies fish and a couple of cod. Not bad at all for a hard days fishing…. I couldn’t recommend Dungarvan bay charter boats higher… Thanks Jack
