Great crew, great weather and great fishing by fishing party from both Foxford and Ballycastle Co. Mayo., reports Donal Kennedy, skipper of Leah, who tells us it was a day one would wish for anytime…

On Sunday 11th Oct 2015 a party of anglers set out in fine. calm weather with light winds from the South to fish Killala Bay. Leaving Killala Harbour at 9am on board the charter boat “Leah” the first stop was to catch fresh bait. The anglers got stuck into a big shoal of mackerel as did a large pod of dolphin who put on a show for the anglers. Having caught plenty of fresh bait the skipper planned to move well out in the bay to take in a previous sandy area and also cover a rocky area near by.

On the first drift some fine Ray were caught along with ever present Lesser Spotted Dog Fish. The second drift produced more Ray along with some Dabs. As the day moved on more Ray were caught, Thornbacks, Blonde and Spotted Rays were among the fish landed. The day got even better along with sunshine breaking through and  some lovely Turbot being caught.

All returned to harbour at 5pm well pleased with their days fishing.
