Angling guide Mick Flanagan reports:
The Lough Lene trout are hard to entice on the fly the last few days, and I had a few hours earlier in the week with Owel McEnteggart and Val Wynne. We presented some lovely dry flies in front of feeding fish, and they just nudged the fly and moved on. On Sunday last I ventured back on Lene with Frank McKeown and it was a glorious day with the wind dropping and brilliant sunshine. We just chilled out and put a few rods out trolling, and boated pike, perch, and trout. The magic rubber worm worked a treat, and it’s hard to believe. Like many anglers Frank and I have hundreds of euros worth of lures, and a 5-cent worm catches most of the trout.

PEADAR CAFFREY CUP.
Staying on Lene Chairman Tom Fagan tells us that the Peadar Caffrey Cup which was cancelled last April will be fished on Sunday June 28th.This fly only competition will be fished from 11am-6pm, with check-in at Fagan’s Point.
