LOUGH MELVIN – Monday 4th April to Sunday 10th May 2015.
Weather conditions were fairly variable this week on Melvin. There was however some fair conditions otherwise and the lough fished well. There was 11 salmon caught that we have heard of. On Tuesday, visiting French Angler Jean Marc recorded a 10lb salmon caught. 5 of the salmon were caught on Saturday when Aiden Miller, Raymond Dundas, Stephen Kennedy and Seamus O’Dare all recorded salmon caught trolling. On Sunday, despite the very blustery and wet conditions, the Rossinver Fishery hosted their Angling Festival Day.
This involved a good chin-wag, BBQ and fishing competition for 3 different trophies. 35 anglers were in attendance and a good day had by all including 3 salmon caught and a few good bags of Sonaghan. The open Trophy was won by Raymond Dundas with a 71cm salmon. Noel Johnston and Kenny Sweeney also recorded a salmon apiece caught trolling. The Aidan O’Dare Cup was won by Raymond McGee with a catch of 5 Sonaghan for a total length of 147cm. The Pat Love Cup was won by Woodrow Acheson with a catch of 5 Sonaghan for a total length of 145cm.
