Michael Flanagan reports on a snow dusted day on Lough Lene…

The trout season has kicked off across the Midlands, and many hardy anglers braved the harsh weather last Sunday March 1st and ventured out for a few hours. The Angling Focus team rattled the nets on Lough Lene, and quite a few good trout were caught on the troll, and fly. Tosh Grimes and Niall Oakes were in the thick of the action, and I watch them catch a few cracking fish on the fly.

Andy Boyle and Mick McCormack also boated a few nice fish as did John Daly and angling pal John Flanagan. We also photographed Frank McKeown with a lovely rainbow pushing 5lbs, as the snow pelted down.
