Eddie Long reports on the Naas and District Anglers Fur n Feathers match held on the 28th of December on Levitstown and Ardree…
Eleven anglers met in Conlons of Athy where we had a bite to eat and held the match draw. The weather was shocking for the match with rain and a strong gale that claimed several pole sections. The fishing was tough for most but a few pegs produced decent weights. Paul Mc Loughlin had 10lb, Shane Kavanagh had 7lb Austin Conway had 10lb and some decent hybrids were caught by several anglers but the haul of the day was had by Chris Moore with a fantastic bag of perch, roach and hybrids weighing in at 35.5lbs.
After the match we all returned back to Conlons where the Fur n Feathers prizes were awarded to all in attendance. The match was tough but I’m sure everyone enjoyed themselves and it was great to get out on the bank with friends after the madness of Christmas.
John Prescott was presented with a lovely plaque from the club for all he has contributed to the club and to the angling community in general. Sadly after 25 years on Pacelli Road and almost 40 years in Naas altogether, Countryman Anglings tackle shop is unfortunately closing it doors for the last time. There was always a cuppa and a chat for anyone who graced the shops door and if angling advice was needed then no better a man than John Prescott to give it. We’ll all miss being able come into the shop for that cuppa John but we’ll see you on the bank real soon.
Anyway that’s it from me in 2015, I hope you have a wonderful new year and we’ll see you on the bank in 2016.
Tight lines
Eddie Long
