In advance of the first leg of Daingean Match Angler’s winter league there were over 30 anglers signed up. The competition was fished on Sunday in shirt sleeves conditions but the fish were not so enthusiastic about the mild weather. Julian Kendrick reports that it was a tough old day on the canal.
Pat Bartley fishing on peg 37 (rowing course), had the heaviest bag at the weigh in with a fantastic catch of micro roach for 1.380kg. In 2nd place was Darius Karaliunas with 1.340kg and hot on his heels in third was Colin Oliver with 1.300kg. Section winners were Colin 1.3kg, Jimmy Kelly with .950kg, Jeff Morison with 1.120 kg and Alan Larkin with .500kg.
Lets hope a bit of settled weather improves the fishing for the next round.
