Max Couque from Galway Fishing reports on three days fishing from a recent outing that gave them lots of different species and a large quantity of pollack and coalfish. Max reports that on the Friday, Galway Aquarium came out with us, the weather was cold but calm. We started out fishing at anchor in the middle of Galway Bay, where we caught cod, ling, pouting, wrasse and bullhuss. Following this we headed towards the Aran Islands where we caught some nice pollack and coalfish. We ended up at Inisoirr, one of the three Aran Islands, to take a break and cook some cod and pollack fillets while the Aquarium tried to catch some conger eels but without success.
The following day there was only a gentle breeze that had turned to the south, the temperature was higher and it looked like there was a beautiful day in store for us. We came across large schools of coalfish as shown on the sonar Onix Navicom (the screen was filled with fish). We caught some ling and pollack with Creafishing lures (TY EASY feed and fresh) and some pouting.
Before returning to port I mapped the sea bed with my AutoChart Live Navicom to create a seabed contours card to allow me to refine my drift for the next time. On the Monday, the weather was cloudy and windy and we caught some nice pollack between 2.5 kg and 4 kg with lures the largest caught by Christophe. There were not many fish but they gave us great sport and we ended the day with a lovely bullhuss caught by Stéphane. This was the last days fishing that finished off the week of Stéphane and Christophe with whom we had a great time.
