Angling has been fairly quiet on Corrib so far, with high water levels and cold conditions prevailing since opening day. Renvyle man Jackie Coyne was not deterred, however, fishing with angling guide John Somerville from Cornamona he landed a cracking 3.24lbs trout on a Silver Dabbler. John reports that they met several more fish, all in good condition for the time of year.

Jacek Gorny has also been providing great sport for his clients, with some cracking fish caught. On the 3rd they had 8 trout landed on small lures, all handmade by Jacek himself, and all between 50-60cm. They also landed a monster pike over 100cm, the first of the season over the magic 1 metre mark, to finish off a fine day’s sport.
