Paddy Halpin, IFI Limerick, reports that the Feale opened for salmon angling on the 1st of March….

06 March: On opening day we had huge floods and it was not fishable all day.

The following day it was fishable but still high and we had our first salmon of the season caught in in the locality known as the Pump House. It was caught by a local angler Stephen Morooney. The fish was a fresh run salmon with sea lice and weighed 8lbs. Stephen caught it while spinning with a Kilty lure.

To March 6th we have reports of 3 more  fish caught  Batt Murphy from Brosna had a fish of 8lbs while fishing the Finuge Club waters, Mike Devine from Newcastlewest 16lbs in the Finuge Club waters and James Allman had a fish of 7lbs while fly fishing Finuge club waters we also got some reports of a few Kelts caught and released.

Already this week another couple of fish have been reported. The river is back in flood again following rain yesterday but should come into order again tomorrow or Friday.
