Ken O’Neill from our Limerick offices reports that the Crocks Cup was fished on May 1st.  There were 66 anglers fishing this annual fly fishing competition  at Mountshannon, Co Clare.

34 fish were released afterwards (52% – which is exceptional).

It was noted by Andrew Brown, Chairman of the Mountshannon Angling Club, that all fish were in exceptional condition (overall average condition factor – weight divided by length –  up from .018 last year to .019 this year.

Last Weekend’s Giblin Cup Competition  at Scarriff also saw some good quality fish landed. The overall winner caught a 3.5lb Trout on the fly.

The Mayfly is not fully up at present, however, anglers expect it to be this week – should the weather warm a little. Trout have not yet taken to the fly as such.
