Stefan Martin from Killybegs Mariners SAC reports from Donegal Bay’s shores…

19 June: With the longest day almost upon us the weekend threw up some lovely fish around the shores as the fishing activity reaches its zenith, lure rods again producing some lovely pollack on soft plastics as the fish are in hunt mode, and mackerel and pollack even hunt over the sand marks hoovering up flattie baits as they hunt the shoals of bait fish under the watchful eye of the circling gulls and gannets.

A large conger eel for visiting rod Gary weighing 27lb fell to mackerel bait and a lovely seatrout for Johnny around 60cm on a local beach and a 3 spined stickleback brought joy to species man Christy, and Emma and Dessie had a great battle on the flatties, everything pictured and released and great memories made once again on the shores of Donegal.
Go fishing…
