East Clare
Stunning Scenery

Stunning scenery and fantastic fishing met the 18 anglers who attended the East Clare Lakes August Festival, the first in at least as many years on these waters!  Organised by Munster Coarse Anglers in association with Fishing Tackle Ireland the event showcased the fine coarse fishing available from the shores of Doon and Kilgorey Loughs in County Clare.  As expected the competition yielded some magnificent catches on the pole, whip and feeder  for quality nets of bream, roach, rudd, hybrids and tench.

Galway angler Cathal Hughes took the top position on this new festival with a magnificent 3-day catch of 50.920kg. Second was Ewan Weed Co. Fermanagh with 34.130Kg, Third was Chris Simpson, Co. Down with 29.455Kg and Fourth was Paul Mc Caul with 27.650Kg.

Further to the success of the event a two-day open competition will be held over the weekend of the 13th & 14th of October.  Pegs are limited to 30 so book in quick by calling 087 2595559.

Well done to Fishing Tackle Ireland and Munster Coarse Anglers for getting the festival off the ground. We can expect more from this prime fishery just 40mins from Shannon airport in 2019!
