Stefan Martin from Killybegs Mariners SAC reports on the fishing around Donegal Bay…
14 August: An extra layer may be on the anglers but the extra fizz on the water certainly brought on the fishing. The bay is chock full of scad now chasing sprats up into the bays taking full strings on the feathers for Johnny as he got some bait for conger fishing which resulted in a lovely 25lb shore conger which gave a great scrap before release… also Pat and Cormac had a few lovely drifts over the sand banks on the boat resulting in some fine flatties and double shots of spotted rays… great stuff.
11 August: Fintra Bay was the place to be last night for the league as the dolphins gave Olympic style jumping clean out of the water chasing their feed they had trapped up into the bay. A great spectacle as the sun went down.. fishing was good also mostly small fish below our minimum 23cm in the flat conditions before the dogs came in after dark. Close scores at the end again and 2nd place cash went to Pat Cunningham and longest fish cash was a 27cm flounder for Declan McGettigan and Declan also took 1st place money. A great night out well done to all.

Introducing details of the upcoming Mariners s.a.c Open beach competition which will be held on Rossnowlagh Beach Saturday September 1st 2018 fishing from 13.00pm – 17.00pm with check in at the car park from 12pm and pre book by contacting Michael on (+353872871423). Open comps are open to anybody that wants to fish and entry is €15 adults and €5 Juniors. Brilliant prizes on offer thanks to our sponsors Cartys Land and Sea Sports in Bundoran and Mooney Boats in Killybegs. First prize on the day wins €100 cash plus €100 voucher for Mooney Boats and 2nd place on the day wins €100 voucher for Land and Sea Sports and longest flatfish wins €50 plus other prizes on the day.
