Menapia Sea Anglers report on their last two competitions…
Ballyhealy was the first venue for the 3rd master competition which was fished in extremely hard conditions after a big easterly. Anglers had to resort to 50lb straight through to get fish back. Winner on the night was new member James Duffy with a good bag of 10 fish made up of Coalie, Bass and Rockling, second place went to Brendan Wall on 5 fish and a close third was Joe Carley on 5 fish, James Gordon took the pool with a 38 cm Coalie.
Ballyhack was the venue over the weekend, 15 April, for the 4th leg of masters and winner on the day and his 3rd win this year so far was youngest member Sean Carley with a good bag of 27 fish mainly Flounder and Dabs. Second place went to Brendan Wall with 18 fish and a four point difference over third place Joe Carley who had 19 fish.
Species included Codling, Flounder and Dabs in good numbers with over 250 fish measured and released. Longest fish went to Brendan Wall with a 39cm codling.
The club was also joined by Emma White who was tagging Codling for marine department studies – plenty of fish kept her busy all day.

The Menapia Sea Angling Club was founded in 2000, by a small handful of Wexford anglers. It was felt that to retain and grow interest & membership of a successful club, it would have to engage a wide variety shore-angling, that would cater for all. For more information see
