Mick Flanagan reports from Lough Lene…
Quite a number of anglers were out on Lene during this beautiful spell of summer weather. The ladies fly anglers hosted a day out on Lene last Sunday June 3rd and a few cracking trout were caught. Julie Gerry of Collinstown had the longest trout measuring 63cms, and also in the thick of the action was Cheryl James with a trout of 55cms. Lough Lene Anglers are in action next Sunday as they host the Paddy Dolan trophy for pike. It’s an 11am start and all boats in at Fagan’s Point at 6pm.

LENE RAINBOWS
Last week some savage rainbow trout were caught on the fly. Tony reilly of Co. Meath had a super fish weighing 5lbs 2oz, and our good pal Marty Smith rattled the scales with a whopper of 5lbs 6oz. Marty was back over from Macklesfield near Manchester in England, and was celebrating his 60th birthday. Marty is coming over the past 15 years to Mullingar and stays in Kerrigan’s B&B in Harbour Street. Kerrigan’s is a top class Pub and accommodation provider here in Mullingar and recently was refurnished, and the walls are decorated with some old sporting photographs. Worth dropping in and taking a look.
