There were a couple of matches fished on Lough Muckno over the weekend. On Sunday 17 anglers fished Round 3 of the Cavan Monaghan Lakelands Feeder Club summer feeder league on Black Island. Clear water and very sunny conditions made fishing a little more difficult than usual. The bigger skimmers never really played ball, but hybrids and perch with the odd small skimmer made up the weights.

Lurgan Coarse Angling Club were also out on the lake on Sunday. They fished their annual Float Only cup match on Concra Wood. The flat clam conditions, high water levels and the bright sunshine were not exactly ideal conditions. But thankfully the fish didn’t seem to mind too much with some excellent catches right along the sections. Top angler on the day was Johnny Keith from peg 60 on the narrows with 11.200kg of mainly roach on the pole. The top 4 were very tight with Johnny Mckinley coming 2nd with 10.450kg followed closely by Davy Hamilton with 10.050kg and Kevin Maguire with 9.800kg.
