Brian Reidy reports that Galway Bay SAC held a successful rig-tying workshop last night in Salthill Aquarium, where novice anglers picked up some great tips on tying their own traces, and improving their sea fishing. Great to see this kind of initiative, and to hear some novice anglers turned up after reading about the workshop on here!

I know from fishing this comp in the past that fishing can be excellent at this time of year, with plenty of coalfish, dogfish and thornback ray to be caught. I had thornies 20 metres out from the shore last year, that’s how good it was! It’s certainly a great start to the competition season for shore anglers and one I hope to fish myself.
