Peter Cunningham from Boyne Valley Fishing guides has been in contact to let us know that a French group of 15 visitors from IDEC in Lille have been hosted recently for a days trout fishing on Barnattin reservoir just outside Drogheda in Co Louth.

The group had just arrived the previous evening and most of the group had fished before but help was available for those who had not. Spinning and bait fishing were the methods of choice. After a relaxing morning by the water, with plenty of banter among the group, they stopped for lunch which had been prepared from Irish and locally produced products.

There were only 5 or 6 fish caught before lunch but the afternoon session produced 11 more trout giving a grand total of 17 fish. The day finished up with a fly fishing demonstration on Kilineer and in the evening the group visited a local hostelry to sample some fine Irish produce and enjoy some traditional music.
