Dan O’Neill reports from the river Nore at Mount Juliet:

Over the past 2 weeks there have been plenty of both brown and sea trout caught. Sedges, just as darkness hits, proved to be very productive. Caenis patterns are also claiming their fair share of trout. The river system is in great condition at the moment, all trout are plump and full of life when hooked – giving a good account of themselves. Fly hatches in the evening are nothing short of magical making the area just above the river a hive of activity.

Nymphing also is producing a good number of trout with caddis patterns being the most popular. There are plenty of small upcoming fish on the fishery. It’s a great sign for the future. Like I mentioned before the trout numbers and sizes are up greatly on last season. The quality of the trout also seems to be much better than last year,

I am currently holding show arounds on the fishery for the 5 available spaces for next season. If interested please contact me on 0857652751.
