Monday 9th to Sunday 22nd September 2019 (2 weeks).
Melvin has reasonably quiet over the last fortnight and fish hard to come by many days. There were some highlights however. Peter Green reported a 5lb trout caught on a fly. Swiss guests Sami and Sigi Marti staying at Drowes Fishery reported trout of 6 & 8lb caught trolling on Melvin and also a fine Gillaroo estimated at 3lb.

The Seamus O’Doherty Perpetual Cup pairs fly fishing competition was held on Sunday fished out of Garrison Pier. Fishing was hard but a number of Sonaghan over the size limit were caught. The winners were Anthony & Andrew Tracey with 5 fish. In second place were James Doherty & Joe Gilroy (3 fish) with Brendan Shallow and Joe Deery in third position with 2 fish. The heaviest fish prize went to Eamonn Ross. July Geary also caught a fine 6lb Ferox during the competition but Ferox are not weighed in in the competition.
