Spring salmon fishing on Carrowmore Lake kicked off with a bumper start! After the first fish of the new season was caught by Mervin Corway on April 12th more Mayo anglers were lucky enough to enjoy great action on the Lough.

Conditions remained excellent throughout the week with all the usual hotspots producing salmon between 6 and 12 lbs. Amongst the successful anglers were John Cosgrove, Eamon Kennedy, Christy Murphy, Rocky Moran and Christin Breuker to name but a few.

Most successful flies included the usual suspects such as Jaffa, Green Peter, Dabblers and various Bumble patterns. The outlook is for more settled weather with light to moderate winds which should lead to more great catches on one of the country’s prime spring salmon fisheries.
