Charter boats up and down the coast have been yied up for long enough, and with all the maintenance done, skippers are very happy to be back on the water.
Skipper Luke Aston was out again over the weekend west of Loop Head. On Saturday they had a bit of a look around at the Loop and came on one small shoal of mackerel, which provided bait. There were plenty of small coalfish about. Out west they got on very good mixed fishing. Plenty Pollack and Coalfish and even a few big Mackerel through them.
Luke says Sunday was again a good day’s fishing.
A skipper’s work is never done, and Luke has also been busy servicing reels and getting everything ready for hopefully a busy season. Personally, the pic below gives me nightmares – I would never get all those parts back together in the right order!
