Anglers on the Blackwater Trout and Salmon Fishery finished the month with a salmon of about 10lbs, after a bit of a lull April got going on the 4th. Monday saw 3 fish to the bank on the fishery but the honours of the day go to Michael Quirke who after many years giving up fishing for Salmon returned for a day with Jason and the lads and on his first run down through the Island Run at Cable Island landed a beauty. Hooked again!
While most of the catches reported in the last 10 days have been from below Fermoy there was a t least one fish take at Mallow.
Water levels were dropping and read around .42 on the gauge at Ballyduff yesterday, but the rains have brought the level up to .58 at the time of writing with water temperatures just passing 9°C.

Blackwater Salmon and Trout Fishery
Blackwater Salmon and Trout Fishery control a number of beats of the Munster Blackwater. The Ballyduff Bridge beat is almost a mile long offering a huge variety of water and is particularly suited to fly fishing. Upstream near the village of Ballyhooley (a few miles outside the town of Fermoy, Cork) we have two beats. The Ballincurrig Beat is one of the most beautiful locations along the river and has an excellent piece of fly water flowing into a deep pool. Just downstream on the opposite bank we have a short but productive beat, called Magners. This beat fishes also well in high water.
