Great fishing once again to report from west Clare, where local charter boats have been mixing it up with plenty of species. Skipper Luke Aston says the spurdog fishing has been tremendous, with packs of fish up to 18lbs providing lots of action. While the spurs have been very active, after a while Luke had to move to try to find other species, who didn’t get a chance at the baits while the spurs were around.

Luke had a couple of day charters over the weekend, and good mixed fishing was the result. These two young brothers enjoyed their trip, catching their first tope each.

A session at anchor also produced some nice thornback ray.

On the Lady Gwen, skipper sean Maguire has also been enjoying good nixed fishing, with some nice ling showing. And of course, plenty of spurdog as well!
