Floods bring change of venue for VDE Baggers club match

1380

The VDE Baggers were faced with a choice last week when high water at their usual venue at Newry promised to make the fourth round of their winter league a struggle. So they decided to take the plunge and move to the Movanagher Canal, where the sight of plenty of fish topping on the morning of the match whetted their appetite for the competition ahead.

Aaron with his winning 8.8kg

Unfortunately, the topping roach were a bit of a red herring, as all the surface activity failed to translate into feeding fish. Weights were down on pre-match expectations, but Aaron Nabc Hutchman, who drew a handy peg, made the most of his opportunity to bag 8.8kg and win the match comfortably. In second place, with 3.5kg was John Walker, while James Wellwood performed well to finish third with 2.54kg from an unfancied peg.
