13/9/2023 The Currane anglers were all quiet in all departments today, so on that note we head down Murphy’s weather road, on the weather front Kerry was on a yellow rain warning. Wind SSW fresh to strong followed by gusts up to 63 Km/h and overcast followed by rain at times. Amount rain forecasted is 41mm?
14/9/2023 The Currane anglers are still waiting for the flood that never was as of yet, on the manipulations of the Currane anglers this day all I can say is again my WhatsApple was all quiet on the fly line as well as the Currane trolling lines. Amount of rainfall yesterday was 12.5 mm. Wind light NE and variable from ENE to the NW
15/9/2023 At least one salmon caught on the troll, one boat had 4 juniors on the drift. Good few brownies to reported on the drift. 1 salmon caught on the Inny on fly and one on spin. Amount of rainfall yesterday was 8.3mm. Wind light NE veered NNE followed by rain this morning.
16/9/2023 The Currane anglers were all quiet. On the Inny front one could see the gravel quiet clearly at the Inny Bridge, need I say more. Wind NE fresh to strong followed by good cloud cover.
17/9/2023 The Hampshire Hogs are back, and I can say without of any contradiction they started in style in the C&R department. Hampshire Hog Mr. Perter Ruffle caught and released two Grilse. Fellow Hampshire Hog Mr. Nigel Henshaw sadly lost a good fish. On that note we head down stream to the famous Butler Pool where Hampshire www.watervillegolflinks.ie Hog Mr. Trevor Dewberry reported that it was all quiet and the same goes for the rest of the Waterville Fishery. Just for the record the Hampshire Hogs are fishing out www.thecrescentwaterville.ie and fishing with [email protected] and www.fishingwithdom.com. I will finish tonight’s report with the Mad Fisherman and his YouTube channel, all I can say is to the Mad Fisherman, keep up the great work of promoting the Waterville fishery. Wind NNE light and variable followed by good cloud cover.
18/9/2023 Straight to the Hampshire Hogs report on today’s manipulations and I quote,
…just a couple of C&R Trout today, the best was in the 2lb class. With any luck there is a strong wind forecasted late this evening and yellow rain warning it might liven the Salmon.
Well there’s no argument to that. Wind NW and veered WNW followed by good cloud cover.
19/9/23 The Currane Hampshire Hogs take all the headlines on a wild Lough Currane today, here is their report on today’s action,
Hi Vincent,
it certainly was! Gave up about 2.30, a 4lb grilse C&R and a 2lb trout for Currane angler Mr. Trevor Dewberry, Mr. Nigel Henshaw, Mr. Pete Ruffle went on the river but nothing to show for it.

20/09/2023 7 C&R salmon caught Inny 5 on fly , good few juniors C&R on the lake.

As you would say Vince, Just for the record all today’s C&R were all caught on the troll, there was no fly fishing today because the lake was very dirty after last night’s 22.5 mm rain. Staying with the rainfall you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know the C&R Inny had a few anglers manipulating their skills and as of yet my WhatsApple was all quiet but watch this post. Sea Trout – Catch and release only
Inland Fisheries Ireland wishes to remind anglers that the Conservation of Sea Trout (No.7 or Kerry District) Waterville Area Bye-Law No. 971 of 2019 remains in effect. This Bye-law prohibits the retention and possession of any sea trout (Salmo trutta L.) taken by any fishing engine or by rod and line in the Waterville area i.e. that part of the sea eastward of a line drawn from the most westerly point of Bolus Head to the most westerly point of Lamb’s Head and to all the waters discharging in to it.
The Bye-Law mainly affects seatrout fishing on :-
- the river Inny (Knockmoyle) and its tributaries
- the waters of the Waterville system, including the Waterville River, Lough Currane, the Cummeragh River and all their tributary rivers and lakes
- the waters of Ballinskelligs Bay
FLEKSI
A new online survey has been developed by IFI for the Currane catchment to gather anglers’ knowledge – the survey method called FLEKSI was developed by IFI to help give an insight into the status of the fishery. Currane Anglers are needed for Citizen Science survey to examine fish stocks
