With the 2023 salmon fishing season slowly beginning to take shape, regular contributor Andrew McGall has put together a YouTube video of his salmon chasing exploits during the 2022 season. The Atlantic salmon is the fish of a thousand casts, but here Andrew has cut straight to the action with highlights of some of his most exciting takes from the season gone.
Having said that, there must have been several thousand casts to piece this footage together, so well done Andrew.
Andrew tries to adhere to the ‘Keep ’em wet’ philosophy of trying to keep your fish in the water throughout the unhooking process, only lifting them for a quick photo. Keeping the fish underwater ensures that they are not deprived of oxygen and gives them the best chance of survival once released.
