The past week has seen some windy weather at times, which for skipper Luke Aston and his guests means fishing in the shelter of the Shannon Estuary, out of the big swell. A welcome asset to fishing in this region, with fewer days lost to the weather. This year, Luke says, the tope fishing has been very good, with plenty of lively fish around. Dogfish, bull huss and ray have also been caught, including a rare enough spotted ray. The pics below are a sample of some of the estuary fish caught this week.

When the wind dropped, they did manage some offshore fishing, with some nice fish off the botttom, plenty of coalfish with some nice pollack through them, and a shark drift produced a porbeagle shark.
