A rare catch this week for Cormac Walsh of the Lure Fishing Podcast. As usual, Cormac was lure fishing for bass or pollock – although in unfamiliar territory in County Cork instead of his usual Wexford haunts. The mark looked fishy, with plenty of rock and kelp, but the fish that took the Sandy Andy lure wasn’t any of the species you would expect! Much to Cormac’s surprise, a beautiful John Dory hit the white paddle tail and came to shore after a short fight. It’s a first lure caught John Dory from the shore for Cormac and probably the last!
