Anthony Kierans managed to get out on Donegl Bay at the weekend and he caught a really beautiful fish…
The day started out calm on the west side of the lighthouse where I fished for Squid without success. I then moved to the Bullock beacon where I saw about 30 plus Dolphins. I caught a few Whiting and released a few 2lb Pollack.
Westerly winds blew to F5 so I moved east of the point. Drifting in and out for Squid without success on one rod, I had another dragging the bottom for anything .
I caught Cuckoo Wrasse, Mackerel and Scad. To finish I caught and released this lovely fish, a red bandfish, over sand and mud in 25m of water near Saint John’s Point.
On other days I have caught red Gurnard, Cod, Ling, Squid Pouting. Scuba Diving the area I see a variety of Rays, Monkfish and Plaice.
