This report from the National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland:

After the final leg of the World Youth Angling Championships, our U20 squad secured 8th place a respectable finish against the 12 best float fishing youth teams on the planet — no small achievement! Fishing on Spain’s prolific Guadiana River meant speed fishing at another level — 4 or 5 fish a minute, with catches of small carassio numbering in the hundreds and the odd bonus carp.

Experience shone through with John Browne and Brian Clark earning 4th in their sections — with others gaining valuable experience for next year’s event in France.

Youth Team Manager Adrian Browne reflected: “Overall, it’s a disappointing end to the week, and some bad decisions on the day meant we could have done better. But the effort and commitment were outstanding. A huge thank you to the boys for their tireless work in the heat, to the parents, and to Nick and Charlie for their support on the bank.”

The NCFFI wishes to thank Youth Team Manager Adrian Browne for his commitment to the squad, to the dedicated parents on the bank and to the sponsors for their incredible support in helping them to get there.

Inland Fisheries Ireland are proud to sponsor Irish underage teams as they represent Ireland at international events held overseas.
