David Hehir, skipper of Dungarvan charter boat Algerine is back on the water for 2025 and sends this early season report…
We started our 2025 Season on March 25th, departing Dungarvan Harbour for a half day trip with a few local anglers aboard. Conditions were flat calm with a nice northerly breeze.
The plan was to drift over some inshore reefs for the ususal suspects and the catch report for the few hours included pollack, coalfish, pouting, ballan wrasse and cuckoo wrasse.
Mark landed a nice ballan wrasse which was on the larger size. We measured it, but it just fell a little short on specimen length. Pollack were plentiful throughout the day, a welcome sign.
Not a bad start to the season all anglers were happy heading home.
