Bodo Funke of Angling Services Ireland reports from the Boyle area…
A few weeks ago, regular guest Martin returned for a week’s fishing, this time accompanied by newcomer Florian and it proved to be a memorable trip. Martin landed a superb new Irish personal best of 114cm, while Florian enjoyed a remarkable debut, catching his first pike and setting an impressive PB at 110cm. Several additional fish over the metre mark were also recorded during the week.
Earlier, German fly angler Jörg spent a week targeting pike on the fly. Despite enduring challenging conditions, including strong winds and hailstones, his persistence paid off with a number of fine fish. The highlight was a well-conditioned 102cm Esox, weighing in at just under 20lbs.
