S
unday saw the 3rd round of the VDE Baggers AC Spring League take place on a very difficult River Blackwater.
After the skimmers showed well the previous week, hopes were high, but the heavy rain during the week had left the river coloured, rising, and badly out of sorts. By match day, the fishing had changed completely, and the skimmers simply did not want to feed.
Most anglers set out to target skimmers, but only a few managed to find them, while the rest had to work hard for bits.
Nick Seddon took the win from A Section with 5 skimmers for 5.750kg. Paul Eyres was second with 3 skimmers for 2.830kg, while Martin Pollock finished third with 1 skimmer and a few bits for 1.800kg.
Well done to the top three — excellent angling in very tough conditions.
It was not the day’s fishing everyone had hoped for, but hopefully we get some settled weather before the final round in two weeks’ time and can finish the league on a high. A full report and more photos can be viewed on the VDE Baggers AC Facebook Page.
