Kit Dunne has been trying hard to further develop the east coast shark angling product. In particular he is trying to establish the possibility of regular porbeagle fishing. Last week he brought out a willing crew from Kilmore Quay to to do a bit of test fishing. They left early on the morning of 27 August in perfect conditions heading for the Celtics Deeps, about 30 miles offshore. Travelling and drinking coffee they were thrilled to see porpoises, dolphins and even minke whales. When they started fishing things only got better.
Kit tells us, “Alan Ball and his crew had 24 Blue Shark and a Porbeagle on Saturday with me. Has to be one of my most memorable days ever, on top of the shark we saw Porpoise, Minkie whales, Tuna on the feed and loads of Dolphins along side throughout the day and on the way home.”
