Ballyduff Bridge Fishery course was so good, we'll do it again on May 18th!

Jason O’Riordan of Game Fishing Ireland enjoyed the coaching and compliments the participants at Ballyduff course:
We had a full house for the river trout fishing course on the Ballyduff Bridge Fishery. The day started off cool and overcast but it warmed up a bit in the afternoon. In the morning we looked at tackle choice, casting and some key techniques such as wet fly, streamer fishing and various nymphing methods. There was a great focus and willingness to learn amongst the course participants.
Jason O'Riordan - Ballyduff course (1)Maurice even managed to hook and land a nice trout during the demo!
Jason O'Riordan - Ballyduff course (2)After a break for tea and sandwiches we continued on by demonstrating dry fly and dry/dropper tactics. Despite the cold wind and lack of a hatch on the day, one wee fish even rose to my black gnat when I was giving a few pointers on fishing dries. The guys all fished on for a while in the evening and it was good to see them picking up a few fish on wet flies and weighted nymphs. The next course is the Salmon Fishing Course on May 18th also at Ballyduff Bridge Fishery for the great value fee of just €80 per person. If you are interested in learning about salmon fly fishing or improving your technique, then get in touch.

Plenty of Pike in the North East for Peadar's Clients

A Good Deep Well Conditioned Fish for this Happy Angler

Angling guide Peadar O’Brien from Carrickmacross reports that he has been very busy over the last few weeks with some new clients and some regular clients. Return visitors Ice and John from Holland had a very good time even though the weather was very cold and the pike were spawning. The lads still managed a lot of pike and had lots of hook ups with the pike hitting the lures hard. It was great to meet up with the lads again. Peadar says that the fishing has picked up well and he is expecting more activity in the coming weeks.

Carty’s Land and Sea Sports reports:

With the weather improving and water temperatures rising there is an odd fish being spotted on the Bunduff . There hasn’t been many anglers out yet but we would expect over the few weeks the first main run of fish should appear at the falls . Last year saw some great fish caught on this water on all methods with most success being had on the prawn .

Mullaghmore and Bundoran go into battle on Good Friday

Reports from anglers shore fishing this week have been mixed with poor fishing reported from Cliffony , Mullaghmore and Rossnowlagh and good Flounder and Seatrout up to 50 cm which is about 3.5lb from Mermaids cove , Tullan strand and Moneygold . Along with the sand fishing a few anglers casted a line from one of the rock marks at Magheracar known as the quarry flag and were rewarded with a nice Codling of about 2lb and some good Bollan Wrasse .

This weeks seems to be certainly ticking all the boxes of Summer . At the time of writing there is a crane in Mullaghmore harbour lifting the Boats back into the water to enjoy another season and later in the week local Bundoran skipper Patrick O Doherty will launch the Bundoran Star back into the pier in Bundoran just in time for this years first boat competition of the season . This comp will take place as always on Good Friday and is held between the two local clubs in Mullaghmore and Bundoran with the organising of the event alternating between the two clubs each year . Further details for the competition can be had from the event organizer Boris Siegel on 087 6962052 .
